to above-of ocurse, this is thailand, where you never have to worry about transport. In fact hardly ever about any other thing a tourist might need to-they have an excellent sense of smelling commerce here. BUses-back to BKK -run till roughly around dusk (=about 18.00).
For anyone who might care to read this-and due to the general lamentable lack of any transport info on this site:
1.DAYtrips-mostly in small minivans are now regularly organised by various BKK_bases tour operators. Simply ask around at them at the place you stay. They are quite numerous around Khao Sarn road.
2. the SRT=State Rail, for the time being, from now=nov 09 till end of febr '10 has DAYtrips on offer, in cooperation with Thai tr-agents. It cost 999 THB and leaves at 7.40 SAturday, from the small Wien Yai station. On SUNdays there is another 3/4 markets tour, same price/time. But you MUST prebook-tel.1672=tourist hotline or 1690=railwayhelpline or tourismthailand.org. It uses 3d cl=NO AC-seats on the normal=quite decrepit train from this station. Back to BKK by 18/19.00 is by bus or van=minibus. - now in BKK
