The pictures were well-taken. It is a pleasure to see the myriad of colours in the photographs.

Thank you for the useful tips. There will be one less gullible tourist the next time. - Darren

I was at those markets just three weeks ago on my very first trip overseas (I'm 45)and even though I arrived with the multitude of farang, I thoroughly enjoyed the canal trip and the markets. Although those markets were the most aggressive I had been to in my trip to Bangkok! I was exhausted just trying to get out of the place :) If you are a nervous tourist like I was and being a first timer like me, it suited me just fine. I had a such a great time in Bangkok but a week was enough :) Love your blog. - Jennifer

this blog was my guide to the market. Thanks for guiding me my friend. I appreciate your concern to reach the market at the early hours as have a bit of remorse in not able to make it.

For all other visitors there's a piece of advice the merchandise in here is lot more expensive than in the Mochit market of bangkok.

loved the trip and your blog. thanks - Anoop S L alias Anoop Nair

After 8 years of living in Bangkok I made it to the floating market last weekend (July 09). While it was interesting to see and, as mentioned above, if you arrive early its great for photos. But its not really a traditional market anymore. Its a tourist business. Most of the shops sell the same rubbish you can see in Patpong or along Sukhumvit road. And it was expensive. My Thai wife and I took a boat (still Bt300 for an hour) but it would stop/slow at every shop and we would be asked to buy someting (which we did not). Arrive early is still recomended but there are much less tourists these days and the car parks are not full. Cost us Bt20 to park the car. My wife bought some food but nothing else. - Andrew

QUESTION,

Is the market open everyday? if so i take it the week ends would be the busy time. I plan to go there on a Moday, is that a good idea, also how about the facilities for slighty disabled as I need to walk with a stick. Thanks in advance for you answer(s) - Milly
